You Decide

Read this first.

Just another athlete who can't deal with the passing of time and their career?  Or is it a man trying to draw attention to a scourge that has changed so many lives in a way that only he can?

Hard to say KP, but if I was forced to choose, Id say he's all about drawing attention to an effin scourge that as you say has changed so many lives ( your and mine included ) I wish him well. Even if he doesnt win his 8th TDF, I think he'll bring unprecedented attention to cancer.

Maybe someday, in some part due to people like Lance, people like you and I, Moe, Pacer Chris and others wont have to see loved ones suffer anymore.

Thanks for the space KP!

I think that he, like many people I know, has a nture that is so competitive that he is unable to let go. He tried, and although he may honestly believe that his efforts are all about fighting cancer, he could work to fight cancer every day without completing another TDF. He might win it, or he might not. But I find it hard to imagine how winning another TDF wll make a somehow larger impact than would him simple working in the myriad of other ways that he could choose to to fight cancer in the same amount of time.

I may sound negative toward his plan, and I'm lukewarm at best to it, but he has certainly made a tremendously positive impact in the world and he will continue to do so. I just think the TDF is about a deep and subconscious and innate need that he has to measure himself in a way that having a three acre spreadand an 8000 sqft mansion doesn't allow.

I hope he is doing it just for cancer awareness.

I suspect he is doing it to keep feeding his ego.

But what do I know. I've never met the man.

I do know that just by trying to win another TDF he is raising cancer awareness. He could probably do as much other ways, but this is a way he wants to do it, so more power to him.
